- There Are Rules, the band's first album since 2004's Guilt Show, is coming out Tuesday! Some FYE stores are already selling copies, which is how I can tell you that it is absolutely incredible. You won't be disappointed. Blue Collar Distro is taking pre-orders for both the CD and vinyl editions of the album, as well as deluxe editions of each.
- With a new album comes a new tour, which means new opportunities for bootlegs. However, please read my earlier post regarding our official policy on taping. (In short; Don't ruin the show for those around you, stop if you're asked to, and buy a shirt. They're nice shirts.) See the tour dates here.

- If you haven't heard yet, Jim Suptic's side project Blackpool Lights has not only gotten back together, but released a brand new EP. It's superb, and available for only $5! The story behind the Black Lodge Sessions is an interesting one, to be sure. Sometime after the recording of Guilt Show, an intern at The Get Up Kids/Ed Rose owned Black Lodge Studios stumbled across a DVD-R containing several alternate versions of songs from On a Wire, one that eventually turned up on Guilt Show, and Dreaming Underwater, a song that had never seen the light of day. Rather than simply releasing them, fearing he would lose his job, he sent each song to a different person on the band’s message board, instructing them to tell no-one they had it, and only to release it if he told them it was safe to do so. It is unknown whether or not he actually gave the order or simply trusted the wrong people, but either way we got several great tracks out of the deal.

Originally recorded for the iTunes Music Store, this EP is no longer available for purchase. It features low-key renditions of six songs, as well as a version of Action & Action re-written in ¾ time signature, and one of the most recent recordings of Better Half from Four Minute Mile

Not only one of the quintessential live Get Up Kids bootlegs, but a defining moment in the band’s history. After ten years and one last tour, The Get Up Kids decided to call it quits with one final show in their hometown. Even though the band has since re-formed, that doesn’t make this energetic farewell any less astounding. Aside from a few seconds missed at the beginning and a short gap in the middle of Walking on a Wire, this is practically perfect. And rather than a bittersweet trip down memory lane, it now serves as a reminder that exciting new things are on the way.
One of the only live bootlegs from the band’s 2005 farewell tour, the other being the final show in Kansas City. This recording shares not only the fiercely celebratory tone of that show, but a very similar setlist. However, its still a must-have for collectors.
This is actually a high-quality soundboard recording from the band’s tour of Australia broadcast over the radio. Features the only known live recording of Sick in her Skin and one of only two known live versions of Wouldn’t Believe It.

High-quality soundboard recording of a small, full-band acoustic set in a small lounge in Ontario, Canada. One of only two known live recordings of the ¾ time signature version of Action & Action (as recorded for the iTunes Sessions EP).
Recorded at an in-store event in a Los Angeles Tower Records store, this full-band acoustic show has a much more intimate feel than the usual live Get Up Kids concert. Not only does it contain the few known live recording of the ¾ time signature version of Action & Action (as recorded for the iTunes Sessions EP), it also has the only known live bootleg of Sympathy.

Very On a Wire-heavy setlist, featuring rare live recordings of several deep cuts from the band’s third album such as High as the Moon and All That I Know.
This one is indispensable for any fan. Recorded at Kill Creek’s CD release party in 2001 during the writing process for what would become On a Wire, The Get Up Kids performed several songs that were apparently written for the album, but have never been heard since. The only exception is a very early version of “It’s Never About What It’s About,” which was later released on “This Town’s Disaster,” the only album from Jim Suptic’s post-Get Up Kids band Blackpool Lights.
